The South African pecan industry is today dominated by the Chinese buyers. It is estimated that approximately 99% of all pecans exported out of South Africa are exported to China. This has been a great stepping stone for the local industry and allowed for significant expansion over the past few years. Realistically, with the growth in the production expected, it only makes sense to diversify the industry and to invest in new channels to market the South African product.
